The emphasis was on the plants being fed by surface water resources; also the clarification unit was taken as the major one among treatment processes. In this way 25 water treatment plants located in different cities of Iran were studied from the point of view of technical specifications chemicals, and personnel; also the problems existing in each water treatment plant were verified. In this paper the results obtained in the three parts of the study (technical specifications, chemicals, and personnel) are summarized and illustrated. Also the most important problems existing in water treatment plants are studied and classified, following a number of technical and educational suggestions to improve the operating efficiency in water treatment plants.

The evaluation of immune status to measles among school children in south of Tehran, blood samples were collected from 375 randomly selected school children of elementary schools, Junior high schools and high schools. The measurement of measles antibody titer was made by haemagglutination inhibition test, with antibody titer > 1/4 considered as positive. Among 375 school children, 6% of them were seronegative but with antibody titers ~ 1/8 as positive, seronegativity rates increases to 20%. The most susceptible age groups were 10-12 years old.

This one year retrospective study was conducted in Mirza Kuchak Khan Maternity Hospital, Tehran, 1989-1990, to compare complications of pregnancy in adolescent (below 20 years old ) and young adult (20-24 years old) mothers. The results were as follows: 14.4% of all the deliveries during the period of study were adolescent mothers. The proportions of the following complications were higher in the adolescent group than in the adult group: prematurity(8 times) cephalo-pelvic disproportion (CPD) (2.5 times) , preeclampsia , eclampsia , bleeding and breech presentation. The proportion of late fetal deaths was higher in adolescent mothers (15.7 0/00) than in adult mothers (7.7 0/00). In this study a base-scale is prepared for the evaluation of the personality grounds of the Tehran University of Medical Science students. Such a scoring scale may be useful to help the medical science students in career development, psychosocial consultations, and appropriate supportive care plans. A sample of 205 female and male students resident in dormitories were evaluated using “Bernreuter” personality questionnaires and computer programs prepared in this center. The percentiles of each scale is scored and represented in a systematic framework. Susceptibility tests were carried out on Anopheles stephensi with D.D.T(4%), dieldrin (4%), malathion(5%), propoxus (0.1%), primphos-methyl (O.lmg/cm2), lambda-cyhalothrin (0.1%), permethrin (0.25%) and deltamethrin (0.025%) during 1990-94 in Minab county, soutern Iran, using W.H.O standard method. Results showed that An. stephensi was susceptible to malathion, propoxur, primphos - methyl, lambda- cyhalothrin permethrin and deltamethrin, also LT5O was 5,19.5, less than 1.less than 1,3 and less than 1 minute, respectively. Results indicated that An.stephensi was still resistant to D.D.T and dieldrin but susceptibility level has increased. Mortality rate was 36.1 and 80.6 when the species was exposed to D.D.T and dieldrin impregnated papers for 60 minutes, respectively.
